Are you a Candidate for Dental Contouring?
Dental contouring is a safe and subtle way to improve the appearance of your teeth and feel great about your smile. If you are looking for a procedure to make your teeth look less crowded, have decreased overlaps, eliminate chips or fractures, or get rid of grooves in your enamel, this procedure might be for you. The procedure requires that you have healthy teeth and should be limited to just minor alterations or used in combination with veneers or bonding.
What is the Procedure?
Patients at TLC Dentistry will begin by having x-rays taken and evaluated. The size and location of each pulp of each individual tooth will be looked at to be sure that there is an adequate amount of bone between the teeth in order to support them. Your teeth will then be marked prior to the procedure with a pencil, and a laser or sanding drill will then be used to gradually remove any surface enamel. To shape the sides of your teeth, abrasive strips will be used to move back and forth between each tooth. Finally, teeth are then smoothed out and polished. The whole procedure typically takes between one and three visits.
